The Centre for Health Protection said there is currently no data indicating that the case of laboratory staff at a research facility in Irkutsk Oblast, Siberia, Russia, who died of severe pneumonia of unknown cause, was pneumonic plague. The Centre has proactively sought further information from the World Health Organization (WHO) and Russian health authorities, and Hong Kong has received no reports of unexplained disease.

The building adopts a warm colour scheme and large glass window design, with its ceiling inspired by the bougainvillea, the city flower of Shenzhen. The floor-to-ceiling windows on the fourth floor offer panoramic views of both Shenzhen and Hong Kong. The building is equipped with facilities including baby care rooms and water dispensers.
