Fortune Tellers on Workplace People-Reading Skills: Yin-Yang and Five Elements Physiognomy Helps with Job Interviews and Mate Selection

Fortune tellers point out that physiognomy is an ancient system combining yin-yang and the five elements to observe people and nature. The left face belongs to yang and represents the external, while the right face belongs to yin and represents the internal; left-right asymmetry reflects a personality prone to contradiction. The five elements divide people into 5 types—metal, wood, water, fire and earth—each suited to different industries, such as metal types being suited to management and finance, and water types to trade and media. However, physiognomy is empirical generalisation and should not be overly relied upon; rather than being superstitious, it is better to cultivate oneself.

Therapist Techniques and Stress Points

Physiotherapists, in addition to mechanical therapy and electrical devices, also use techniques such as dry needling and strain-counterstrain (SCS) to treat pain. Dry needling involves inserting a needle into a stress point and lifting and twisting the needle, triggering muscle contraction and a relaxation response in the Golgi tendon system; SCS places a tightened muscle in a shortened position, releasing stress on the muscle spindle and resetting the tension circuit.
