In response to the Work Heat Stress Warning now being in force, the Labour Department reminds employers and employees to take heatstroke prevention measures when working in hot weather or high-temperature environments. Employees working outdoors or in non-air-conditioned indoor environments face higher heat stress levels. Employers must assess risks with reference to the Guide on Prevention of Heat Stress at Work and, so far as reasonably practicable, arrange appropriate rest periods every hour according to the different warning levels. Employees should follow instructions to take rest breaks on time, and if they experience symptoms of heat illness such as headache, dizziness or nausea, they should immediately move to a shaded area to rest and drink water.

LCSD reminds public to keep the area clean while enjoying National Day fireworks display

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department reminds the public that the National Day fireworks display will be held tonight (October 1). Members of the public should keep the area clean and care for public property while watching, and take away the items they have brought with them when leaving, and must not leave behind any litter. The Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza, the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront and the harbourfront area on the northern side of Hong Kong Island will be crowded, and those heading there should take extra care and stay alert to safety.

政府刊憲六項附屬法例 修訂法例便利綠色船用燃料加注作業

政府今日刊憲六項附屬法例，建議修訂《領港條例》（第84章）附表3及《入境條例》等五項附屬法例，以配合綠色船用燃料加注服務需求。修訂包括重新規劃碇泊處，把可用海域面積由現時的645公頃增至2 877公頃，設立七個新的碇泊處，並為政府繫泊浮標引入更便利的收費模式。擬議修訂將於十月七日提交立法會，按先訂立後審議程序處理。

政府委任低碳綠色科研基金評審委員會成員

政府今日宣布委任五名新成員加入低碳綠色科研基金評審委員會，並再度委任六名現任委員，任期由二○二七年一月一日起，為期兩年。委員會由環境及生態局常任秘書長（環境）擔任主席，負責審批基金申請及監察獲批項目進度。低碳綠色科研基金於二○二○年十二月成立，政府已注資共四億元，已批出三十九個項目，總資助金額約一億七千一百萬元。

The scheme will provide free traditional Chinese medicine consultations and oral care, and enhance the elderly's financial management and fraud prevention awareness through lectures and home visits. Since the launch of the "Chronic Disease Co-Care Scheme" in November 2023, more than 260,000 citizens have participated, about 60 per cent have completed screening, and it was regularised in March this year.

Lamma Island outline zoning plan referred back to Town Board for amendment

The Secretary for Development has referred the Lamma Island outline zoning plan back to the Town Planning Board for amendment, mainly to reflect the development scheme of the former Lamma Island quarry, as announced by the Town Board on 2 October. The outline zoning plan incorporating the amendments will be made available for public inspection in accordance with the Town Planning Ordinance. The outline zoning plan was last approved by the Chief Executive in Council in January 2015.

Food Safety Centre tests 327 samples of imported Japanese aquatic products, none found exceeding radiation limits

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has issued a Food Safety Order banning imports to Hong Kong of aquatic products, sea salt and seaweed originating from 10 prefectures including Tokyo and Fukushima. From noon on 30 September to noon on 2 October, the Food Safety Centre tested 327 samples of imported Japanese aquatic products, seaweed and sea salt, none of which were found to exceed radiation limits; the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department tested 100 samples of local fishery products over the same period, all of which were satisfactory.

Centre suspends import of poultry meat and eggs from Rockwood, Manitoba, Canada

The Centre for Food Safety of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department announced that, in response to an outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in the Rural Municipality of Rockwood, Manitoba, Canada, it has immediately instructed the trade to suspend the import of poultry meat and poultry products (including eggs) from the area. According to Census and Statistics Department figures, Hong Kong imported no poultry meat or eggs from Canada in the first six months of this year. The Centre has contacted the Canadian authorities and will continue to monitor notifications from the World Organisation for Animal Health.

The Centre for Health Protection announced on 2 October that Hong Kong had recorded 32 dengue fever cases this year, comprising 30 imported cases and two local infections, with no new cases from 25 September to 1 October. During the same period, one imported chikungunya fever case was added, involving a 62-year-old woman who had visited Guangdong Province, bringing this year's total to 4. The Centre reminded the public that the rainy season is not yet over and urged residents to take mosquito prevention measures.

Labour Department reminds employers to pay attention to electrical safety when working during rainstorms

The Labour Department reminds employers and contractors that, during rainstorm warning periods, they should avoid assigning employees to carry out electrical work or handle electrical installations as far as possible, and should refer to the Code of Practice in Adverse Weather and "Extreme Situations". Even when carrying out electrical work in places not affected by rainstorms, they must still isolate the power supply, test circuits to confirm they are de-energised, and provide personal protective equipment such as insulating gloves and insulating mats. Safety guidelines and leaflets are available free of charge at the Labour Department's district offices or can be downloaded from its website.

Government and MTR reach settlement arrangements for High Speed Rail Hong Kong section and Shatin to Central Link works

The Government reached settlement arrangements with MTR Corporation on 2 October regarding the High Speed Rail Hong Kong section and the Shatin to Central Link works. MTR must pay HK$2.25 billion for delays during the construction phase of the High Speed Rail Hong Kong section, while both parties agreed not to pursue claims against each other over the Shatin to Central Link, for which MTR had already borne about HK$2.8 billion in additional expenditure. The Transport and Logistics Bureau said enhanced works governance mechanisms had been applied to new railway projects.

Chief Secretary for Administration Eric Chan officiated at the event and noted that the delegation was received by Ding Xuexiang, Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice-Premier of the State Council, at the Great Hall of the People. The visit to Beijing was held in Beijing from September 18 to 22, with about 1,200 flag-raising team representatives, teachers, students and youth group representatives from Hong Kong and Macau taking part.
