The Highways Department is designing the Northern Metropolis Highway, with a total length of about 24 kilometres, in accordance with smart highway standards, of which the San Tin section is expected to open two years early in 2034; the Transport Department is expected to complete an update of the smart highway technical guidelines within this year.
