Hong Kong as a transit hub, advocating use of CEPA tariff exemptions to attract companies to set up
Charles Ng Kwan-chiu, Chairman of the Board of New Territories North Technology City Limited, advocated using the advantages of CEPA to attract companies to set up production in Hong Kong, and then use Hong Kong as a transit point for import into the Mainland. He said that Hong Kong products meeting the specified rules of origin can enjoy duty-free import into the Mainland, while Hong Kong's land prices are competitive and labour costs are controllable, which can help reduce companies' tariff costs when sourcing raw materials or components from overseas.
