Government studies 7-day cooling-off period for prepaid consumption; Tang Ka-piu worried yoga studios may not be covered
The government is studying regulation of prepaid arrangements for fitness and beauty services, including a statutory 7-day cooling-off period for consumption contracts. Legislative Council member Tang Ka-piu said that after the yoga sports centre "Hotstone Yoga" closed all its branches, yoga studios do not fall under the beauty industry, and whether they constitute fitness services is also disputed. He expressed concern that the new regulation may not apply, and hoped that after the authorities establish a principal legal framework, yoga studios and industries such as home renovation would be included by way of schedules.
