Religious groups submit "excess" nominations for Election Committee seats; lot to be drawn if no priority indicated

The nomination period for the Election Committee election entered its fifth day. The Returning Officer received 206 candidate nomination forms and 11 nomination forms from designated bodies, with a total of 56 people nominated through the latter, including 13 nominated by the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong and 10 by the Chinese Islamic Association. The 6 designated bodies in the religious sector each nominated 10 people. HSBC raises cash rebate on large mortgages to 1.5%

HSBC has again raised the cash rebate ratio for large mortgages, with the rebate on loans of $6 million or more raised to 1.45%, and loans of $14 million or more increased to 1.5%. The increase does not distinguish between fixed-rate and HIBOR-linked mortgages, with both types eligible for the higher rebate. At the end of last month, HSBC had cut the cash rebate on fixed-rate mortgages to 1.25%, while keeping that for HIBOR-linked mortgages at 1.3%.
